A few months ago there was a photographic exhibition in Krabi Town. One of the photographers had captured many beautiful images of a tiny fishing village up the coast from Krabi. What really caught my eye was the mud boards that the local people used to scoot out over the mud flats at low tide to collect shells and the like.
I thought it would make for a great documentary subject, so we loaded all our gear up and took a trip there around the end of July. We were put in touch with one of the community leaders, a sincere and enthusiastic gentleman known as Khun Sak. We only did two days of shooting but got enough to put together a short trailer in the hope of getting funding to make something longer.
The mud boarding was what really fascinated me and I was able to capture some great footage using an HD Go Pro camera stuck on the front of one of the boards. Other beautiful subjects included the rock art that is found all over the region, the amazing scenery from the estuary, and of course meeting and interviewing some of the locals.
